It was a beautiful day in the Lake District, when I snapped the photo that inspired this painting. The sun was dancing shadows on the flowers along the garden path. Among the dappled light, Sarah and I looked out over the landscape, outside of Keswick. A beautiful moment during happy times.Paths have long represented our journey through life, and this path is no exception! It took two years to complete this work; with stops and starts as life introduced challenges and opportunities.Through it all, my wife has been here with me. Sharing in the ups and, more importantly, the downs. We’re lucky when we find a person to share our lives with. Someone to join in the happy times and carry our hearts through the shadows.
The two cats were not part of my original plan for the painting. But, as I worked on this watercolor, I wanted to commemorate our journey together. The black cat is Archie and the tabby is Jane. They are our fuzzy companions and I could think of no better representation of our journey together.
Free spirits, intertwined by love.
